About WIT
The ultimate goal of the WIT consortium is the most accurate and efficient seismic modelling, imaging, and inversion using elastic and acoustic methods including high-performance computing environments.
History
Established in 1996, the Wave Inversion Technology (WIT) consortium represents more than 20 years of leading-edge research in seismic exploration. Through research financed by WIT sponsors, we educate the next generations of excellent young geophysicists. Our research is supported by companies for the hydrocarbon and geotechnical business and public funding. WIT consists of an international team of scientists at three distinct locations, namely the University of Hamburg and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany, and the University of Campinas in Brazil together with affiliate institutions NORSAR and Fraunhofer ITWM.
